aravis mal lavoie the basics full name • Aravis Mal Lavoie nicknames • Mal (preferred) age • twenty face claim • Ellen Page occupation • barista gender • female, she/her sexuality • heterosexual species • mutant the mutation Power/Abilities • Pushing Through skin-to-skin contact, Mal can push thoughts and feelings into another person's head. The physical touch opens up her target's neurological network, allowing her to push thoughts and feelings through the pathway to effect the target. This ability should not be mistaken with telepathy or mental manipulation. Mal does not have the ability to read minds, but she may experience what her target is feeling once the neural pathway is connected. Once she is no longer touching the target, the thought or feeling she has pushed into someones mind is weakened but not severed. It lasts approximately eight seconds before a target can break away from the thought or feeling. Limit • People with strong psychic barriers are either barely swayed or completely immune to her ability, does not effect creatures without minds (eg. androids, viruses, etc.),and can only push one kind of thought or feeling into a maximum of three people at the sane time (though the more she is focused on, the less effective her power is). Side Effects • Headaches, nosebleeds, migraines, physical or mental strain which can lead to injury, and a risk of strokes or even death. the appearance height • 5'1 identifying features • has a scar across her left palm and tattoo of a pink rose on her calf with the years "1969-2013" written on a ribbon underneath. overall appearance • Mal is a very short, slim lady. Her hair is brown, straight, always up in a messy bun, and falls between her shoulder blades when its down. Her eyes are hazel, mostly brown, but contain flecks of green that glows slightly. This glowing in her eyes increases whenever she is using her ability. Mal is as much of a slacker as she is a modern punk rocker. Her style ranges from sweat pants, an oversized sweater, and sneakers, to worn jackets, bracelets, ripped jeans, converse shoes, and even a beanie. This style can change on any given day, but let's just say her wardrobe of choice is usually (s)lacking style. the personality likes • animals, boys, coffee, sleeping, being alone, punk music, junk food dislikes • clowns, mascots, being alone, pity, broccoli strengths • compassion, down-to-earth, resilient, humourous weaknesses • lack of motivation, cowardly, self doubt dreams • to truly understand herself and find the place she belongs fears • dying a nobody, dying in general, never reaching her dream, herself overall personality • if anyone were to be asked who Mal was, the answer would most likely be "oh, that really nervous girl who doesn't have friends?" She is a very nervous person who is scared of conflict, violence, and people who are smiling 100% of the time. Her mother always use to ask her why she was so afraid to live, and Mal would always retort by saying her mom gave all her laziness to her kids. Mal wasn't afraid... of course not. Psht. As a part of Mal's nervous energy, she stutters quite a bit. This could also take the form of her repeating herself or changing the direction of what she was saying completely. Humour is her protector. It has gotten her out of bad and awkward situations. Plus she just thinks she's so darn funny. Her humour is dry, dark, and self deprecating, but can also be flirtatious and silly. Following through with a joke has always been a strong suit of hers, but this can also get her in trouble. Mal doesn't always know when to stop and will do some pretty uncharacteristic things as a result. But she is very quick to say sorry if she upsets someone. Despite her reserved, introverted self, Mal holds loads of compassion for people and their struggles. She is often the one effected the most during an emotional story or seeing someone in pain. Mal would always reach out to help someone... as long as her own life isn't in danger. the history father • Scott Williams, 60- alive mother • Juliette Lavoie, 44- deceased siblings • Carver Lavoie, 27- brother- alive important people • Sissy- 9 year old cat hometown • Dundas, Ontario, Canada overall history • Mal grew up in a single parent home with her mother and brother. Juliette Lavoie, despite being from Quebec originally, moved to Ontario where the majority of her family lived so she would be able to have other family members to look after her kids. Everyone always said how Juliette was a wild one who couldn't be tamed. Some even went so far as to say she had stars in her eyes. It was hard to say where Juliette would disappear to, but by the time she got home she would head straight to bed. When Mal was sixteen, her mother died in a car accident. She never got the details but mourned for a great deal of time. Her mother may not have always been around, but Mal was always told she was just like her and truly held value in their relationship. In memory of her mom, she got a tattoo on the back of her calf. Mal never knew her father, only knew him as Scott. It wasn't until a more recent past that she ran into her biological father. It was pure coincidence that would find Mal face to face with someone she thought about so often. Her ideas of her father were so romanticized that meeting them shot down all the dreams she had about her dad and gave her the simple decision to refer to him as Scott. They still talk from time to time, but the conversations are generally short and shallow. When Mal graduated high school, passing with below average marks, she made the rash decision to move to London, England. She got a work visa, got herself a job as a barista, and moved into a cute little flat only a half an hour metro ride from work. Mal has been here ever since, living a mundane life of going to work, earning money, paying bills, and repeat. But she isn't only working to support herself. Mal has a roommate: Miss Sissy. Sissy is an old, black, and sassy persian Mal found in the streets of London a month after she moved. With her great sense of compassion, she took the old fart in and they have been buddies (and rivals) ever since. Nineteen was the age that Mal stopped being human. She was walking through a park, headphones on and head bobbing to the beat. No body was prepared for the meteor that struck. It hit down before anyone was the wiser. It shook the entire city, shattering windows and killing those too close to it from the blast that followed. Mal had been knocked back from the blast but survived with some bumps and bruises. The scene had been horrific: fire, screaming, fear. But she ran fast. She ran and ran until she reached a friends house and cried. Mal never told anyone what happened that day... and she certainly refused to tell anyone about her resulting ability. It scared her and she would rather pretend it didn't exist than learn to control it... the role player alias • Mal age • 22 pronouns • they/them? rp experience • over a decade how did you find us? • I make dis |
