She was born Arkytior, which meant Rose in High Gallifreyan. It became apparent very quickly that she had lots of fondness for her grandfather. Whenever the opportunity arose, she’d pester him to hear stories about his life. He was her role model, and she longed to be like him more than anything else. As a child, she also came to meet The Master, who gave her a toy. However, the toy that was given to her was actually a device that would allow The Master to track her grandfather should The Doctor ever leave Gallifrey. Leaving Gallifrey is exactly what The Doctor did. A fugitive of his own planet, The Doctor and Susan fled. There was no way she was going to allow whatever fate the Time Lords had in store for him to just fall on him, she’d share it. They were chased to a TARDIS repair station. Susan entered one, and just as her grandfather was about to join her, a mysterious woman convinced him to take the next TARDIS over. Susan followed after hearing voices outside and joined The Doctor in the newly chosen TARDIS. The two of them began their adventures throughout time and space. It wasn’t long before they came across humans. The Doctor knew a lot more about them than Susan, who had only heard of the species and knew the very basics. It was while with these humans that a woman there gave Susan the name that she would choose to adopt. She liked it, mainly because it allowed her to blend in. Because of her age, she had not completed everything necessary to gain the opportunity to change her name if she had wished, so being given the name Susan was as good a compromise as any. Both Susan and her grandfather had become more interested in learning about humans. They decided to live on Earth so that they could study them more closely. They travelled to various years, but eventually settled in 1963 – a lot of it to do with the fact that it was Susan’s favourite when it came to the culture. After some persuading, Susan was finally allowed to attend school like a human. However, with her advanced intellect, it didn’t take long before people started to notice that she was different. The curiosity was mainly led by two of her schoolteachers, Ian and Barbara. They decided to follow Susan home one day after school. It was that day that they met The Doctor, entered the TARDIS and discovered that the universe was more incredible than they could have ever imagined. The two teachers joined Susan and The Doctor on their adventures after an initial, accidental trip. Eventually, after many adventures, Susan fell in love with a man they met on one of the outings. It was after a devastating attack on London by the Daleks in the twenty-second century. A freedom fighter by the name of David Campbell caught her eye, and it became clear to everyone just how much she cared about the young man. The Doctor decided to leave her there, so that she would have a normal and happy life, without having to put up with the danger that travelling with her grandfather brought. Susan played a major part in helping restore London to its former glory after the Dalek invasion and was able to marry the man she loved. Because of the biological differences, Susan and David couldn’t have children. Instead, they adopted orphans of the invasion, and they were named after all of the humans Susan cared about most. Another downside of her species was that she didn’t age at the same rate as humans. After years had passed, Susan had to begin to disguise herself with a perception filter to appear older. She cared for David until his dying day when he passed away peacefully in his sleep. With her children all grown up and living their own lives, Susan knew that she wasn’t needed there anymore. After spending so many years with a family, she realised just how much she missed her family on Gallifrey. It was then that Susan began working on a device that would teleport her back to her home world. However, it quickly became apparent that several of the necessary components had become exhausted in the twenty-second century due to humanity’s lack of care for their planet in the early part of the twenty-first century. She went to UNIT to obtain a vortex manipulator that would allow her to go back in time and complete her machine. A deal was made that she would report immediately to UNIT upon arriving in the twenty-first century and give UNIT a full report on what she had done during her time with The Doctor. Reluctantly, Susan agreed, knowing that she had no other choice if she wanted to go home. She received the vortex manipulator of Captain Jack Harkness and was allowed to go on her way. After arriving in the early twenty-first century, Susan kept her word and went to UNIT HQ where she told the stories of her time with The Doctor to Chief Scientific Officer Kate Stewart and an eager assistant with a strange name who appeared to share her grandfather’s eccentric dress sense. After it was over, Susan’s memories of the event were erased, and she could continue with her building. It didn’t take her long to acquire everything she needed and even less time to complete the construction of her teleportation device. As she entered it, she was excited to see her family again, not caring about any consequences that may have come from running away with her grandfather. However, miscalculations with twenty-first-century technology and her Time Lord genetic structure caused the machine to malfunction. Rather than being teleported, she was bombarded with the radiation used to power the machine. This forced Susan to regenerate for the first time, which was always a scary time for a Time Lord. What she wanted more than anything was for her grandfather to be there to reassure her, but he wasn’t. She was alone. After the initial shock of the regeneration. Susan’s new incarnation immediately kicked in. She had a new lust for adventure and began to travel the world in search of it. She was always there to help with events where The Doctor didn’t show up. More often than not, she’d be done even before UNIT had a chance to show up. Whenever UNIT showed up, Susan would take a step back to avoid being noticed, and return to help clean up the inevitable mess that UNIT made. the role player alias • Arkytior age • 20 pronouns • She/Her Rp experience• Four years now, I think? For a moment, Susan’s grip tightened on the small hand of the child that was running by her side. ”Don’t worry, we’re almost there.” she said calmly, before giving the young boy a reassuring smile. It had been years since Susan had set eyes on a Cyberman in the flesh – so to speak – and she hadn’t missed it one bit. The Cybermen of Earth looked different to the ones she had last encountered. If anything, these Cybermen appeared to be even more dangerous. She had yet to find out why there was an abundance of Cybermen in the English countryside, but that could wait for now. There were much more pressing matters – like staying alive. Susan and the young boy ran towards a dilapidated cottages and took cover behind the corner. Despite everything, she was pretty much loving life at that moment. Slowly, she brought an index finger to her lip to instruct the boy to stay quiet. Her blue eyes peeked out from behind the corner to see if it was still in pursuit. Another blast landed on the bricks next to them. Yep, it was still following. Perfect. With an excited grin on her face, Susan and the boy continued their run across the large, open field. The pursuing Cyberman moved at a walking pace, they could easily get away. As they crossed the field, roars filled the air. Both Susan and her companion’s eyes shot to the sky. One by one, a squad of Cybermen landed on the ground with perfect, calculated timing. The group of at least twenty Cybermen formed a circle around the Time Lord and human. They were trapped. ”Escape is no longer a variable. You will be upgraded.” the synthetic-sounding voice of one of the Cybermen called out. The young boy by Susan’s side cowered next to a bale of hay. Susan gave him a quick wink before placing her hands on her hips. ”Oh, really? Before you do that, do a biological scan of my body to determine my species.” Susan said with all of conviction that her grandfather was famous for. ”You are a Time Lord. Time Lords can be upgraded.” another Cyberman replied moments later. ”Correct!” she began with a grin, before walking over to the bale of hay and taking a seat on top of it as if she didn’t have a care in the world. ”I’m not just any Time Lord. I’m the granddaughter of the man who had beaten you at every turn.” ”You are a relative of The Doctor.” yet another Cyberman stated without emotion. ”Correct again! One last question. What’s the one thing that could stop all of you in an instant?” Susan asked, looking around at the metallic figures. ”The Doctor is not here.” All of the Cybermen said in unison. ”Yep, but I wasn’t talking about my grandfather.” Susan looked down at the young boy at the base of the hay bale. ”Now.” Susan got to her feet atop the hay. ”I was talking about an electromagnetic pulse.” She said, grinning. The boy dug frantically through the hay until he found a large red button. After hitting it, a whirling noise inside the hay began to build up. In a few seconds, a large wave of electromagnetic energy shot out. The hay that had concealed the EMP device shot up in all directions and began to softly fall to the ground. The metallic soldiers that surrounded them stood frozen and lifeless. For now, at least, it was over. Susan gave the boy a smile, jumped off of the device and gave him a high five. |
